Black ice causes accidents
The first of several accidents happened around 5 a.m. on Wednesday as a result of black ice.
A tractor trailer and a car collided on the Frank Kenan Bridge near the New Hanover – Pender county line.
The two people in the car suffered minor injuries and traffic was backed up for miles.
Just down the road, a three car crash in the westbound lanes near the Castle Hayne exit. No one was seriously injured in the wreck.
Investigators said the rain mixed with freezing temperatures and speed were contributing factors.
