Blackwell Road closure delayed for second time

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The NCDOT has delayed the closure of a road in Leland for a second time.

The DOT says the closure of Blackwell Road between US 17 and NC 133 has been postponed due to utility issues. Once those issues are resolved, Blackwell Road will be closed so crews can install a drain pipe and waterline for the Blackwell Road relocation, which is part of the causeway widening project.

Local traffic will be able to access Blackwell Road from US 17, however, there will be no access at NC 133.

The closure was originally scheduled for Sept. 27, but was delayed until this weekend because of weather.
