Bladen Co. man sentenced to up to 19 years in prison for child sex charges

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — A Garland man is guilty of one county of statutory sex offense with a child.

Enrique Maldonado, 39, entered a guilty plea to one count each of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child and Indecent Liberties with a Child on Monday in Bladen County Superior Court. Maldonado was sentenced up to 19 years in prison.

The case arose from incidents in the summer of 2016 that were discovered when the 11-year-old victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Maldonado at the victim’s residence.

The case was reviewed by the Bladen County Department of Social Services and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office who filed the charges against Maldonado in September 2016 following an investigation.

Following the completion of his prison term, Maldonado will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years and be subject to satellite-based monitoring for the remainder of his life.
