Bladen Commissioner-elect, mother killed in crash
The man picked to replace a Bladen County Commissioner who died last month was killed in a car crash this morning. Stanley Richardson and his mother Beulah died in a crash around 8:30 a.m. It happened at the intersection of NC 87 and Cromartie Road in Elizabethtown.
According to Highway Patrol Richardson pulled into the path of an 18-wheeler just a few hundred yards from his home.
Richardson was an administrator at the Bladen County Board of Education, a pastor and had just been appointed to the County Commission. He would have filled the seat previously held by Margaret Lewis-Moore, who died of pneumonia last month.
