Bladen County woman pleads guilty to murdering woman with car
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County woman has pleaded guilty to killing another woman with a car.
Brittany Williams, 28, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder today. In 2012 she was accused of hitting and killing Vanessa Jones, 50, of Elizabethtown, with a Ford Taurus after a fight. Superior Court Judge James F. Ammons, Jr. sentenced Williams to 94-125 months in prison.
Investigators say the crime happened at an Elizabethtown home in the early morning of April 15, 2012. Williams, who was related to Jones, came to the house after a night of partying and started a fight with Jones’s son and daughter in the front yard of their home. After Jones and her children told Williams to leave, Williams got into her car and sped away from the property by driving through the yard. She hit Jones, who was standing in the yard, and did not stop. Jones was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
Elizabethtown Police went to Williams’s home and woke her up. She was then charged with second-degree murder.
