Bladen County Animal Shelter reopens

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A distemper outbreak earlier this month resulted in the death of more than 50 dogs and cats at the Bladen County Animal Shelter and forced officials to shut the shelter down. After a massive clean-up, the shelter started to accept dogs and cats again this afternoon.

A fresh start means fewer animals at the shelter than normal. Dogs and cats are being kept outside. They’ll be moved inside later this week.
