Blood drive organizers need donations

WILMINGTON — The summer usually isn’t considered the time of year for giving, but the American Red Cross is hoping to change that.

Blood drive organizers say their blood bank is running low and they need more people to donate.

Thursday the Red Cross received donations from dozens of corning employees in Wilmington.

They say the blood will help many this summer, but it’s not enough to get through the season.

Michelle Waters with the American Red Cross said, “Right now we have less than a day’s supply of O’s and we’ve got a critical need right now for all types.”

The Red Cross is currently holding another blood drive at Ogden Baptist Church on Market Street.

That drive runs until seven p.m. Thursday.
