Blue Bell Ice Cream returns to Wilmington next week
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Blue Bell Creameries will be available in grocery stores in Wilmington and the surrounding cities beginning on Monday.
“We are glad to be back and excited to be in a position to expand our sales territory,” said Blue Bell President Ricky Dickson. “The next few weeks will be very busy for our company. On Monday, we will also begin selling our ice cream in all of Arizona and on March 27, Blue Bell will return to Denver. ”
Blue Bell has opened a distribution facility in Castle Hayne to service the area.
“Our staff has been working very hard over the past several months preparing for the opening,” Dickson said. “With this addition, our ice cream is now available in most of North Carolina.”
In December, Blue Bell announced they would be reopening its local distribution center.
Ice cream fans can look for Blue Bell at Fresh Foods, Hills Supermarket, Piggly Wiggly, Publix, Walmart, military commissaries and other local supermarkets.
Blue Bell also announced a brand new flavor, Ice Cream Cone, will arrive in stores on Monday. Ice Cream Cone is a vanilla ice cream loaded with dark chocolate-coated cone pieces, chopped roasted peanuts, all surrounded by a rich chocolate sauce swirl. This flavor is available in the half gallon and pint sizes, but only for a limited time.
Blue Bell faced a listeria outbreak in 2015 that halted production. Then last year, the company issued a recall of all of its ice cream products that contained cookie dough from an Iowa-based supplier. Aspen Hills recalled cookie dough supplied to Blue Bell and other ice cream makers after finding potential listeria bacteria contamination.
