Downtown Wilmington music venue closing indefinitely

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Structural issues have caused the owner of The Blue Eyed Muse to immediately close.

Dr. Damian Brezinski, who bought the Throne Theater and renamed it, says he can’t in good conscience put another show in the building. He hopes to have the matter resolved as quickly as possible, but for now, the venue is closed indefinitely.

According to a statement on The Blue Eyed Muse Facebook page, a site inspection was performed on Saturday. That’s when they became aware of a number of serious structural and safety code violations.

Owners are still investigating the details and ramifications of the situation but at this point, they ‘do not anticipate being able to resume business’ but will let everyone know if things change.

All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. If you bought tickets online, you will see a refund within five to seven business days.

The Blue Eyed Muse is one of downtown Wilmington’s largest music venues and went through a renovation last summer. Before it became the Throne Theater, it opened in 2013 as Ziggy’s by the Sea.
