Board of Elections chair not seeking new term
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — John Ferrante, the Chairman of the New Hanover County Board of Elections says he will not continue to serve on the board.
Ferrante has been on the Board of Elections for 2 years. He saw the board through a sometimes tumultuous election season which included allegations of voter fraud, and leaked secret ballots.
The New Hanover County Board of Elections recently ousted Marvin McFadyen as its director and appointed Derek Bowens to take his place. Ferrante said when he took over as chairman there was a lot of work to do with the board.
“The biggest thing was to get the office on a good path for the voters and the county. I think we did that,” Ferrante told us by phone.
He says he plans to spend more time focusing on his outside volunteer activities and his law practice.
