Woman injured by boat propeller in Sunday accident
SHALLOTTE, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A Shallotte woman was injured Sunday evening after falling out of a boat.
Colleen Hamilton, 41, sustained cuts to her arm and forehead in the accident, said officer Scott Pritchard of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.
The accident happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday in the water near Tripps Marina off Village Point Road. Pritchard said Hamilton and three other people were in a 14-foot boat near a boat ramp when a larger vessel passed. The wake from the boat pushed the smaller vessel into a channel marker, causing Hamilton to fall into the water.
Pritchard said Hamilton had serious cuts to her arm that authorities believe were caused by the boat’s propeller. She was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He said no one will be charged in the incident and no one else was injured.
