Body found in Cape Fear River

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A body has been found at the Cape Fear River. Wilmington Police have not yet identified the victim.

The Wilmington Fire Department said a call came in about the body of an adult male in the river this morning.

Crews were searching for a man they say jumped into the Cape Fear River Thursday night. Witnesses said they saw a white man jump into the river and start to float up the river toward the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence before losing sight of him.

Police say the investigation continues.
