Body found at Greenfield Lake Park identified

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have identified the body found this morning at Greenfield Lake Park. The body was found under a covered picnic area near the playground before 6:30 a.m.

Investigators identified the woman as Diana Simpson Fortune. They say the 58-year-old appears to have died of natural causes.

Wilmington Police said Simpson was well-known in the homeless community. WPD spokesman Det. Kevin Smith says it appears she died of natural causes.
