Body pulled from Cape Fear River

WILMINGTON, NC — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the Cape Fear River earlier today (Sunday).

WPD was dispatched to the scene at 12:50 p.m. The Wilmington Fire Department’s boat also responded to bring the body to shore.

The body has been tentatively identified as a young woman in her 20’s. Her name is being withheld until next of kin are notified. The manner and time of death have not yet been determined.

Additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
