Boggess sentenced to life without parole

DURHAM — Life without the possibility of parole — that’s the sentence for Todd Boggess.

A Durham County jury found Boggess guilty Friday of first-degree murder.

Boggess was convicted for the murder of 17-year-old Wilmington student Danny Pence in 1995.

In 1997 Boggess was found guilty and sentenced to death. But the state Supreme Court overturned that decision on a technicality.

The jury in the retrial deliberated for three days before finding Boggess guilty a second time.
