Boil water advisory due to leaking water main in Lake Waccamaw
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — People who get their water from the Lake Waccamaw Water System might be experiencing low water pressure and outages due to a leaking water main on Pecan Lane.
According to a news release, periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for bacteria to enter the water system.
When water is restored, the Division of Water Resources says you should boil all water used for human consumption or use bottled water.
Boiling water for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms.
Residents are also urged to conserve water wherever possible.
This advisory only affects people who live on Pecan Lane.
