Boil water advisory for parts of Lake Waccamaw

LAKE WACCAMAW, NC (WWAY) – Some residents who live in Lake Waccamaw are experiencing low water pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a leaking water main in the area of 506 Lake Shore Drive.

Periods of low or no pressure could lead to bacteria getting into the water system.

The Division of Water Resources advises residents to boil all water used for human consumption, which includes drinking water, water for ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food, or use bottled water.

You need to boil the water for one minute to kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present.

Customers of the Lake Waccamaw Water System are also being asked to conserve water whenever possible.

This advisory will remain in effect until further notice is issued.

The advisory is for 506 Lake Shore Drive, which includes all of McRae Woods and continues to 904 Lake Shore Drive.
