Boil water advisory issued for part of Wrightsville Beach
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Wrightsville Beach says some residents should boil their water because of a water main break.
The town says water consumers of the south end of the Wrightsville Beach are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a broken water main on Wanick Blvd. near Chadourn St. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system south of Causeway Drive increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Therefore, the Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water. The boil water notice is for those residents and businesses in the southern portion of Wrightsville Beach from Causeway Drive south to Jack Parker Blvd.
Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
Customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. The advisory is in effect until further written notification is issued. The town hopes to have repairs done on the line in the next few hours.
