Boil order issued for parts of Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – System Pressure Advisory for the area (s): Scotch Bonnet Lane through the 1800 block of both Carolina Beach Avenue North and Canal Drive. All of Florida Ave., Georgia Ave. and Virginia Ave.

The water consumers of Carolina Beach in the above described areas are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to maintenance/repairs. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Therefore, The Town of Carolina Beach and the NC Division of Environmental Health advise that when water is restored consumers Boil All Water used for human consumption ( including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and washing hands ) Or Use Bottled Water.

Vigorous boiling for a minute or two is sufficient. Customers will be notified when testing is completed and service is returned to normal.

[[Boiling water concentrates any levels of nitrates that may be present in the water. Infants below the age of six months and pregnant women should use an alternate water supply ( e.g., bottled water ) whenever possible.]]
