Bolivia woman indicted for allegedly stealing from elderly woman
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A grand jury has indicted a Bolivia woman for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from an elderly woman she took care of.
Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David said the grand jury indicted Pamela Jackson for obtaining property by false pretense in excess of $100,000 and exploitation of an elderly person.
Jackson was originally arrested and booked under $1 million bond back in November.
According to arrest warrants, Jackson took property and money valued at more than $317,000 from the victim and abused her position of trust as a caretaker. Warrants alleged Jackson was “presenting herself publicly as the daughter of the victim.”
Last week Jackson called WWAY asking to update the story about her, because, she said, her charges were going to be dismissed tomorrow. She said she was innocent of the charges, which she said stemmed from accusations from a neighbor of the alleged victim, who was jealous of Jackson taking care of the other woman.
Reached by phone today Jackson maintained her innocence.
“I swear to God I did not do this,” she told WWAY.
