Bond denied for 7 suspects in Durham woman’s death

DURHAM, NC (AP) — Bond has been denied for seven men and women who are accused in the death of a woman whose body police believe was discovered buried behind a Durham house.

WTVD reported that the seven will remain in jail until a probable-cause hearing on June 30.

Police think the body uncovered by plumbers working at the home Wednesday is that of Antoinetta McKoy, who disappeared five months ago. The investigation determined that 5-year-old Jadon Higganbothan is missing, as well.

Jadon’s mother, Vania Rae Sisk, was a member of the same polygamist sect as McKoy.

Police have charged seven people, including Sisk. The others are Peter Lucas Moses, Lavada Quinzetta Harris, Larhonda Renee Smith, Sheilda Evelyn Harris, Sheila Falisha Moses, Pete Leonard Moses.

It’s unclear if they have lawyers.
