Bond upped for bank robbery suspect

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A judge today increased the bond for one of three men accused of yesterday’s bank robbery in downtown Wilmington that led to a car chase that ended with a crash near Wrightsville Beach.

Two of the three suspects made their first appearance in court this afternoon. Jimmy Cox (pictured right) and Brenton Jenkins (pictured left) are both charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy.

The third suspect, Darrick Lee Jones, is still in the hospital. Police say he is stable at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The state asked for Jenkins’s bond to be raised from $1 million to $1.5 million based on similar pending charges in the Washington, DC area. The judge granted that increase. Cox’s bond is set at $1 million.
