Update: Students arrested for bomb threat at Brunswick County Academy

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Five students have been arrested for making a bomb threat at Brunswick County Academy in Bolivia. Corey Walker and Edward Campbell were arrested and charged with conspiracy and disturbing students. Both are misdemeanor charges. The other three students are juveniles with juvenile charges pending at this time.

The school district says the threat was scribbled on a bathroom wall.

“It’s a way to get out of school, they think,” Brunswick County Executive Director for Instruction Faye Nelson said. “They don’t realize the seriousness of it, and we want to be sure that they do. We want to help them understand the consequences. We don’t want anyone to make a snap decision that would change their life for the bad.”

Deputies and bomb-sniffing dogs checked the building. They didn’t find anything.

This is the third time this year a threat led to the evacuation of a Brunswick County school.
