Man wanted for murdering deputy kills himself
We have breaking news tonight about the search for a man wanted in the murder of a New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputy.
Anthony Bowen, the man wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend (NHCo Corrections officer) Tarica Pulliam, is dead.
He committed suicide in a wooded area off Blue Creek Road in SW Onslow County at about 4:30 p.m. The suicide was committed in the presence of Deputies.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department believes Anthony Bowen shot his ex-girlfriend as she was on her way to work as a detention officer for the sheriff’s department.
Pulliam had filed for a protective order against Bowen after claims of assault, and threats of going to get a gun.
Today WWAY spoke with one of Bowen’s former neighbors who did not want to go on camera, but said Bowen came across as an angry person.
Nobody at his former workplace would comment.
Pulliam leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter who is now staying with family.
Bowen is not the girl’s father.
