Britt’s Donuts is open for the season

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Britt’s Donuts in Carolina Beach is officially open for the season.

The doors opened at 3 Friday afternoon which was a little earlier than expected because the people were already lined up outside.

Despite the rainy weather, it didn’t stop hundreds of people from coming out to get their donuts because for some coming on this day was a family tradition.

Betty McKemzie said, “I’ve been coming since I was 5 years old. Every year we come, and I brought my children when they came along, and now I bring my grandchildren.”

McKemzie says she comes every year on the first and last day of the season.

Britt’s Donuts is located on the Carolina beach Boardwalk.

The business is not only an iconic place for the folks in the community, but also for the people who travel to the area.
