Brunswick Co. Schools to start 2nd semester under plan ‘C’, all remote

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Schools Board Members have decided to start the second semester of the school year in Plan C 100% remote learning for all grade levels.

This comes after hearing about current COVID-19 trends from both the Superintendent and Brunswick County Health Department at the 12/15 committee meetings.

Plan C/100% Remote Learning will run through January 18th. Devices for class instruction will go home this week before the holiday break.

According to a post from a schools spokesman, this will give the district time to see the impact of COVID-19 in the county after the holiday break, make any adjustments, and help provide the safest learning environment possible for both students and staff.

On January 19, schools return to current learning plans. Elementary schools plan to return to 100% face to face or 100% remote learning, and middle and high schools plan to return to the mixture of remote learning and face to face instruction or 100 percent remote learning.

Board Members also approved a pause with sports. Middle school sports will finish their events this week and then, pause all sports until January 19th. High school girls and boys basketball will pause until January 19th.

Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions.
