Brunswick Commissioners honor employee for receiving national award
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A longtime Brunswick County employee received recognition Monday night by the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners.
Soil and Water Conservation District Director Mamie Caison received the National Conservation District Professional Award in Denver earlier this year. We recently spoke with Caison about receiving national recognition.
“I have to say I truly do love my job and I have had a passion for it for 29 years,” Caison said. “It’s getting close to the point now where I need to decide if I’m going to get working or not, but I’m having so much fun. I don’t want to stop work now.”
Last night, Brunswick Commission Chair Frank Williams gave Caison a proclamation recognizing her achievement.
The award is presented annually by the National Conservation District Employees Association to recognize professionalism and dedication in the people behind the nation’s conservation district programs, and to recognize those who believe in conserving natural resources.
“The County is forever grateful to Mamie for her leadership in Soil and Water Conservation over the last 29 years,” said County Manager Ann Hardy. “We are very fortunate to have her expertise and commitment to protecting the County’s natural resources.”
