Brunswick County Board of Education votes to return schools to traditional start schedule

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Schools are going back to the future for next year’s school schedule.

During Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting, members voted 3-2 to return all schools to a traditional start schedule during the 2012-13 school year. It is anticipated the start time for all schools will return to 8 a.m.

Schools are currently on a staggered schedule. The district said the move would help save about $500,000 by letting it use 20 percent fewer school buses. Many parents, though, complained about inconvenient the staggered schedules were, especially when they had students at more than one school.
