Brunswick County deputy arrested, fired for prostitution

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC, (WWAY) — A deputy with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s office has been arrested.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Timothy Paul Caulder for two counts of solicit crimes against nature, two counts of solicit for prostitution, and one count of willful fail discharge duties.

According to a news release, the charges are a result of a two week internal investigation by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards who referred the investigation to the Drug Enforcement Unit.

“We, as law enforcement officers, are not above the law,” Sheriff John Ingram said in a statement. “We will not tolerate anyone from this agency to abuse their position.”

Caulder was hired as a detention center deputy in December 2011 and was promoted to a road deputy in August 2012.

Caulder was terminated immediately, and is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $2,500 bond.
