Brunswick County man accused of strangling 5-year-old girl

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An Ocean Isle Beach man is accused of strangling a young child multiple times.

According to a warrant, Kenneth Smith grabbed a 5-year-old girl by her throat and pushed her against a wall on multiple occasions.

The warrant states the crimes happen between July 2019 through August 2020.

He was arrested Sunday and charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a child under 12, and failure to appear.

Smith is in the Brunswick County jail under a $110,000 bond.
