Brunswick County hiring policies change
Another school policy reported last week was New Hanover County’s new policy to prohibit faculty relationships with students.
Today Brunswick County officials said they have made changes in teaching their policy to their staff. This year Brunswick teachers are required to watch two videos on relationships and sexual harassment.
The assistant superintendent Terry Chestnutt said the schools have concentrated on the issue recently. “It’s been a major focus of ours in past years and this year. Especially in that principals will have staff development on continual basis with their employees concerning those areas.”
County schools have a partnership with the District Attorney to educate teachers on new issues.
Brunswick County prohibits student faculty relationships and requires anyone who suspects inappropriate behavior to report it.
