Brunswick County mom wins national title for cleaning houses

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — A single mom from Brunswick County is a national champion. Michelle Richardson won the 2010 National Vacation Rental Housekeepers Award.

The Director of Housekeeping at Oak Island Accommodations says she enjoys doing the dirty work. Directors of Housekeeping throughout the nation compete for the award.

Richardson attributes her success to good ol’ fashioned hard work.

“I’m sure my mom’s proud of me, because she taught me how to clean,” Richardson said. “I was always the one to clean up the house when all my brothers and sisters were out, so I did listen to my mom well, and it’s paid off.”
