Brunswick inmate tests positive for TB
At least one Brunswick County Jail inmate has tested positive for tuberculosis, and a total of 400 tests have been given to see if the disease has spread.
According to Brunswick County Health Officials, this all came to light when a former inmate’s initial skin test came out positive for TB.
Health Department Officials asked where he might have been exposed, and the former inmate pointed to his cellmate at the Brunswick County Jail.
That inmate has been transferred to Raleigh.
While it is concerning, the Health Department says only five percent of people who are infected actually get the disease. They will have the 400 test results back Friday.
