BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Burgaw-based business is being recognized at the state level as part of National Small Business Week.

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s North Carolina District Office announced its 2026 honorees, naming Mojotone in Burgaw as the state’s Exporter of the Year.

Among this year’s North Carolina honorees, Mojotone was selected for its contributions to international trade and business growth. The company, based in Pender County, joins several other statewide winners recognized for their work in manufacturing, rural business and entrepreneurship.

Mojotone is a company that makes components for electric guitars, amplifiers, and sound systems. The company sells equipment across the nation and in Europe.

“Our winners hail from Asheville to Burgaw and a few places in between.  These are accomplished, experienced business and professional people who are contributing to their communities and to the broader economy,” said District Director Mike Arriola.

Other North Carolina winners include Aviator Brewing Company in Fuquay-Varina, named Small Business Persons of the Year, DocTerra Mobile Veterinary Clinic in Vale, named Rural Small Business of the Year, and J&M Memorials in Connelly Springs, named Small Business Manufacturer of the Year.

The SBA also recognized Corner Kitchen in Asheville with the national Phoenix Award for Disaster Recovery.

National Small Business Week runs from May 3 through May 9 and highlights small businesses across the country for their impact on local communities and the broader economy.

SBA officials say the annual recognition highlights the role small businesses play in driving economic growth and supporting communities.

The SBA North Carolina District Office and its partners will host events throughout the week to connect entrepreneurs with resources, training and opportunities to grow their businesses.
