Bus driver won’t be charged in pedestrian accident
CHAPEL HILL — The bus driver that hit and killed an exchange student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will not be charged.
Police said Tuesday that Lisa Carolyn Moran, who was from Scotland, was wearing an i-Pod while jogging. They said she didn’t stop for traffic, lost her footing and eventually slid under the bus.
Moran was jogging through south campus on Manning Drive just before 11 a.m. Thursday when the bus struck her as she tried to cross the street. She died after being transported to UNC Hospitals.
Police said there was no designated crosswalk at the scene of the accident.
