Business booming for many this Memorial Day weekend

With a struggling economy, everyone is looking for ways to take a vacation without breaking the bank.

“I try to eat out not as many times, cooking in, on holidays have a barbeque or something like that,” said Kevin Bessette.

With plenty of free activities, Carolina Beach was a popular destination for the Memorial Day weekend. “Swimming in the ocean, that’s fun, and playing in the sand,” said Chloe Bessette.

Despite the fact that people are trying to save money this Memorial Day weekend, business owners in Carolina Beach say the new rides have helped them find a way to dig into their wallets.

“We think that our rides have probably had a big impact because it’s been the very busiest it can be,” said Beth Caggiano of King’s Beachwear.

Many vacationers are trying to save money by cutting travel expenses this year, but for the beach businesses some budgeting has been a blessing in disguise.

A trend they hope continues throughout the season.
