Buzzer beater goes in and out for Sewickley. Ashley earns 7th place in Brogden Holiday Tournament

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It wasn’t a pretty game, but a win is a win is a win for Ashley. This win means Ashley gets to avoid the “oh-for” in the Leon Brogden Holiday Tournament. Down by three with the clock ticking away Sewickley’s Danny Timpona attempted a three pointer to send the shot to overtime versus Ashley. The ball was in, then out at the buzzer. The basketball was totally below the cylinder, but it bounced out to give Ashley a 35-32 victory in the 7th place game at Trask Coliseum.

In the 5th place game South View topped Bunn 72-64.

Thursday’s 3rd place game will feature New Hanover vs. Hoggard at 1pm at Trask Coliseum.

Thursday’s championship game will feature undefeated Laney vs. Millbrook at 2:30 at Trask Coliseum.

WWAY will air a special Thursday night edition of the Full Court Press with John Rendleman and Brett Blizzard on Thursday’s 11pm newscast.
