Call to 911 details altercation before Monday’s fatal shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline) — A fatal shooting earlier this week happened after a taser attack, according to a 911 call.
The 911 call came into the New Hanover County Emergency Center just after 2:30 p.m. on Memorial Day. The caller lived in the 1000 block of Martin Street and told the operator he just shot a man.
“Some guy just tried to come in my house,” the caller said. “He came over looking for somebody I didn’t know. I didn’t recognize the name or nothing.”
The “guy” was 23-year-old Fuquan Wright. He died a few hours later. The Wilmington Police Department called it an “isolated” incident, but Monday’s 911 call is the first glimpse into what occurred. The shooting is still under investigation, according to a police statement. No charges have been filed.
