Cameron family offers land for baseball stadium, but says don’t use tax money to build it

WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) — The Cameron family, who owns large tracts of property in New Hanover County, has offered to donate land to the city of Wilmington for a proposed baseball stadium.

But the family is against taxpayer money being used for the facility.

Smith Creek Land, LLC, the real estate company for the Cameron property, sent a letter to the city offering up to 35 acres off Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway for a proposed stadium. The city is considering a proposed $35 million stadium that would bring an Atlanta Braves minor league team, operated by Mandalay Baseball, to the Port City.
