Camp Lejeune Marine officer charged with alleged sex assault of child
CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (WWAY) — A decorated Marine officer at Camp Lejeune is facing charges for an alleged sexual assault of a child.
A release from the US Marine Corps says Col. Daniel H. Wilson, 55, of Mason, Washington faces charges of sexual assault, sexual abuse of a child, assault consummated by battery on a child under the age of 16, failure to obey a general order or regulation and conduct unbecoming of an officer.
Col. Wilson has been with the Marine Corps since 1981. He was removed from his post and reassigned to administrative duties after the investigation started, according to the release.
Col. Wilson was given two military councels, but it’s not known whether he retained the services of civilian defense counsel, according to the release.
The release said an Article 32 hearing will happen in the near future, but a specific date has not been set.
