Campus Edge shooting suspect arrested on Dock Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man wanted in a shooting at an apartment complex near UNCW is now behind bars.

U.S. Marshals arrested Antonio Devon Jenkins, 28, around 10:00 a.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Dock Street.

The shooting happened June 6 in the 400 block of Racine Drive at Campus Edge Condominiums. At the time, one witness told WWAY he saw two men fighting in a black SUV. That SUV drove forward and hit an AC unit hard enough to push it into an apartment on the first floor. The driver then backed up and went through a fence by the dumpsters. The witness says they saw a man roll out of the car.

The victim was identified as Darnell Jermaine Hill, 38, of Wilmington. He had been shot in the leg.

Jenkins faces several charges:

• Robbery with a dangerous weapon
• Assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
• Possession of a firearm by a felon
• 1st degree kidnapping

Jenkins is in jail under a $300,00 bond.
