Can your apartment complex legally kick you out? The law says yes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many renters have been having questions about their rights following Hurricane Florence.

Real Estate Attorney Ned Barnes says there is not a statute to address storm damage, but landlords are required to supply a habitable property.

If your unit is damaged, the owner does have the right to tell the you to leave.

Barnes also advises that all leases are different and you should consult a professional to find out your rights based on what you’ve signed.
