Cancelled SC event could come to Wilmington Convention Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Myrtle Beach’s loss could be a win for Wilmington’s soon-to-open convention center. While crews continue to put the finishing touches on the new facility, it may pick up some business from south of the border.

South Carolina state law restricting car auctions has forced the cancellation of a big event this weekend. Organizers are in discussions to reschedule the event for another date at the Wilmington Convention Center.

The head of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center says the change cost the Grand Strand millions of dollars in business.
