Vigil held for man found murdered at Greenfield Lake two years ago

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tonight friends and family held a candlelight vigil to remember Dillon Morris. The 20-year-old was murdered near Greenfield Lake two years ago today.

We were there at the candlelight vigil tonight as Dillon’s friends placed flowers, candles, and teddy bears around his photo. Dillon’s mother, Jennifer Hatcher, says she doesn’t know who killed him, or why.

Family and friends say the hardest part of it all is not knowing what happened. His best friend, Khadijah Clifton, tells us what life has been like without him around.  “A struggle. Sad. Heartbreaking. I really miss him a lot and wish he was here. He was sweet. Silly. Outgoing. Did everything for everybody.”

Last night Dillon’s mother told us that she hopes one day she will know what happened to her son and hopes memorials like these will shed light on his murder and catch the person or persons responsible.

Wilmington Police told us that they have no update on the case.
