Canine Relay of Life set for Saturday
The second annual Canine Relay for Life is Saturday at Halyburton Park in Wilmington.
Last year, 198 dogs and their owners took part and raised $13,000.
Event chair Dianne Jones was on WWAY’s Good Morning Carolina Monday as said she hopes to double the money raised this year.
“It’s a fun way to do a good deed for our community raising money for American Cancer Society research. Dogs are not allowed at the human relay, which is the following weekend, and that’s why we have this one, so we can have fun too.”
Registration starts at 8:30 Saturday morning at Halyburton Park on South 17th Street.
The fee is ten dollars per dog, which includes a bandana and treat bag for the canines and a t-shirt for their masters. The walk begins around 10 am.
