Cape Fear Garden Club celebrates 90 years

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Garden Club celebrated a big birthday today at the Cape Fear Country Club. For 90 years the non-profit has been raising money to give back to the community through a grant program.

According to members of the club, other local non-profits can apply to receive grant money through the Garden Club.

Today was also a celebration for the upcoming Garden Tour which takes place during the Azalea Festival.

“We have the 62nd annual Garden Tour. The Cape Fear Garden Club has hosted this tour for more than 62 years. And this year we’ve got another group of beautiful gardens including ten private and three public gardens,” said Garden Tour Chairwoman, Sandra Kittinger.

The Garden Tour runs from April 10th through April 12th. Tickets are $25. Proceeds from the tour will go back into the Garden Club’s many philanthropic projects.
