Cape Fear Garden Club raises $89,000 in Annual Azalea Tour Garden

Cape Fear Garden Club announces their annual Azalea Garden Tour raised $89,000 for community beautification and horticulture efforts. The total represents an all time record for the tour. According to Tour Chairman Cathy Poulos, this year’s tour profits will “enable Cape Fear Garden Club to significantly impact the beautification of our community. We are thrilled with the opportunity these funds represent.”

Since its inception 54 years ago, the Azalea Garden Tour has provided thousands of dollars for beautification and horticultural grants in New Hanover County.

In addition, profits support scholarships at UNCW and Cape Fear Community College and finance conservation efforts at Battery Island, a National Audubon Society sanctuary and the largest nesting site in North America for ibis, egrets and herons. Tour profits also support other special projects such as garden therapy, youth gardener projects, and horticultural
programs.

Applications for grants are now being accepted. Grant guidelines and applications are available on the Cape Fear Garden Club web site: http://www.capefeargardenclub.org/.

Applications are due June 1.
