Cape Fear Museum breaks ground on outdoor addition
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Museum broke ground on their new Outdoor Learning Environment this morning. The part is set to open at the end of September and will be free for everyone to enjoy.
The Learning Environment will feature exhibits for both kids and grownups.
Museum Director, Sheryl Mays said she thinks the Learning Environment will be a great addition to the community.
“We hope it will bring people together. It will give people an opportunity to meet each other and talk in a safe and desirable place with trees and plants. And it will also be a teaching tool. So people will, while they’re here enjoying the park, they’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about our history,” said Mays.
The funding for the park comes from a voter approved bond that will create more green space in the city and throughout the county.
The learning Environment will replace the side parking lot directly next to the museum building.
