Cape Fear Public Utility Authority stops sanitary sewer overflow

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Cape Fear Public Utility Authority stopped a sanitary sewer overflow that occurred Friday around 6:00 p.m. by the Country Haven Pump station, located at 7718 Market Street in Ogden.

A break in an 8-inch force main caused the overflow. About 2,000 gallons of waste water poured into the nearby Pages Creek.

CFPUA Environmental Management staff conducted water quality testing at different locations at and around the site. They expect results within 24 hours.

This incident is under further investigation by CFPUA. It has also been reported to the North Carolina Division of Water Quality.
