Cape Fear Realtors discuss concerns with legislators
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — State lawmakers made their way to Wilmington Friday, meeting with Cape Fear Realtors for a legislative luncheon.
Senator Michael Lee and Representatives Deb Butler, Ted Davis and Holly Grange all took part.
The luncheon gave realtors the chance to share their biggest concerns with lawmakers.
A few of those topping the list were mortgage interest and property tax deductions, the state’s school calendar, economic development funding and beach nourishment.
The state leaders listened and shared feedback.
“It’s really important to get out and meet with folks within the district to talk to them about what’s going on in Raleigh,” Senator Michael Lee said. “And also to find out what they’re concerned about at home. Obviously the real estate industry in our area is a significant industry. So it’s really good to come to meet and talk to them about what’s happening here locally.”
A few other concerns discussed where private road maintenance agreements, development policy, insurance reform, sales tax on real estate services, workforce housing loan program, private process servers, historic preservation tax credits and section 1031 like-kind exchange.
